Application Process

How to Apply

Follow these six simple steps to secure your place at MIG. The entire process can be completed online or in person at either campus.

First Step
Choose Your Programme

Browse MIG's four core programmes — Journalism & Media Studies, Film & TV Production, Marketing & PR, and Fashion Design & Cosmetology — and select the qualification level that suits your goals: Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma.

Prepare
Gather Your Documents

Collect certified copies of your WASSCE / BECE results (or equivalent), a national ID or passport, two passport photographs, and any additional certificates relevant to your chosen programme.

Apply
Submit Your Application

Complete the online form below or visit either campus in person. Submit all required documents. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission improves your chance of securing a place.

Application Review

The admissions team reviews your application and supporting documents.

Offer
Receive Your Offer Letter

Successful applicants receive a formal offer letter by email, WhatsApp or in-person. The letter will include your programme details, fee schedule, and registration instructions.

Enrol
Pay & Register

Pay your initial fees (full or instalment), collect your student ID, and collect your timetable. Attend orientation to meet your lecturers, tour the studios, and get started!

Entry Criteria

Entry Requirements

Requirements vary by qualification level. Select the level you're applying for below.

BECE Results

Minimum of a BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) pass or equivalent. Candidates with WASSCE results are also eligible.

Valid ID Document

Ghana Card, Voters' ID, passport, or any government-issued photo identification.

Passport Photographs

Two recent passport-sized photographs with a white or light background.

Completed Application Form

Fully completed MIG application form (online or paper). All fields must be filled accurately and legibly.

Application Fee

Non-refundable application fee of GHS 200, payable by Mobile Money (MoMo), bank transfer, or in person at the admissions office.

Minimum Age

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration. Mature applicants (25+) without formal qualifications may apply under mature entry criteria.

Note: Certificate programmes are designed for school leavers and those entering the creative industry for the first time. No prior industry experience is required. Mature entry applicants (25+) who do not hold the academic qualifications may still be considered on the basis of relevant work experience.
WASSCE / SSSCE Results

Minimum of WASSCE or SSSCE with passes in at least four (4) subjects including English Language. Aggregate 24 or better preferred.

MIG Certificate or Equivalent

Holders of an MIG Certificate in a related discipline, or a comparable qualification from a CTVET-accredited institution, are eligible to apply directly to Diploma level.

Valid ID Document

Ghana Card, Voters' ID, passport, or any government-issued photo identification.

Passport Photographs

Two recent passport-sized photographs with a white or light background.

Portfolio (Selected Programmes)

Applicants to Film & TV and Fashion Design Diploma programmes are encouraged to submit a brief creative portfolio or showreel.

Application Fee

Non-refundable application fee of GHS 50, payable by MoMo, bank transfer, or in person at the admissions office.

Note: Diploma programmes are more intensive and are suited for students who have completed secondary school. Holders of an MIG Certificate may apply for direct entry into Year 2 of the Diploma, subject to academic performance and programme availability.
Diploma Qualification

A Diploma from MIG or another recognised institution in a relevant discipline. Applicants with degrees in unrelated fields may also be considered.

Relevant Work Experience

At least one (1) year of relevant industry experience is recommended for Advanced Diploma applicants, though not strictly mandatory for recent diploma graduates.

Portfolio or Showreel

A professional portfolio, body of work, or showreel demonstrating creative output in your chosen discipline is required for most Advanced Diploma programmes.

Admissions Interview

All Advanced Diploma applicants will be invited for a short interview with the programme head before an offer is made. This may be conducted in person or via video call.

Valid ID & Academic Transcripts

Certified academic transcripts from your most recent institution, plus a valid government-issued photo ID.

Application Fee

Non-refundable application fee of GHS 50. Advanced Diploma applicants may also be subject to a portfolio review processing fee.

Note: Advanced Diploma programmes lead to internationally recognised qualifications through MIG's ICM (UK) affiliation. Graduates of the Advanced Diploma are eligible to apply for top-up degrees at partner universities in the UK and Europe.
Valid Passport

A valid international passport with at least 6 months remaining validity beyond the intended period of study in Ghana.

Academic Qualifications

Certified copies of all academic certificates and transcripts, translated into English where necessary by a recognised translation service.

English Proficiency

Non-native English speakers must demonstrate English proficiency. IELTS 5.5+ or equivalent is accepted. Exceptions may be made for applicants from English-medium schools.

Student Visa / Permit

International students must obtain a valid Ghanaian student visa or residence permit. MIG's admissions office will provide an offer letter to support your visa application.

Medical Insurance

Proof of valid medical/health insurance covering the full period of your study in Ghana. The MIG admissions team can recommend partner insurance providers.

Application Fee (USD)

International students pay an application fee of USD 20 (equivalent). Fees are quoted in Ghana Cedis at the prevailing exchange rate at time of payment.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

No prior industry experience is required for Certificate level programmes. MIG is designed to take you from beginner to professional. For Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels, some academic background in a related field is helpful but not always mandatory — contact our admissions team if you are unsure about your eligibility.

Yes. MIG offers flexible payment plans allowing fees to be paid in up to three instalments per semester. A deposit is required at registration to secure your place. Speak to the Accounts Office at either campus to set up a personalised payment schedule. Late payment fees may apply.

Yes. MIG's programmes are accredited by CTVET (nationally) and affiliated with the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM, UK) for international recognition. Students on eligible Advanced Diploma programmes can earn ICM-certified qualifications that are recognised by employers and partner universities in the UK, Europe, and beyond.

Once you submit a complete application with all required documents, the admissions team typically responds within 5–10 working days. Advanced Diploma applicants who are invited for interview may take an additional 3–5 days. You will be notified by email and SMS at every stage of the process.

Transfer students are considered on a case-by-case basis. You will need to provide official transcripts and a credit transfer request letter. MIG's academic board will determine how many credits from your previous institution can be recognised. Contact admissions@mig.edu.gh to discuss your transfer options before applying.

MIG has affordable hostel facilities available for students.
